At the 1963 United States Grand Prix, Peter Stebro entered a car that was powered by a four-cylinder Ford engine. The engine was not Stebro's first choice for the car, and, in fact, was not too far removed from its production car roots. Nevertheless, the car finished seventh, despite a stuck gearbox, and in this rather backhanded fashion, the Ford Motor Company entered the realm of Formula One. In 1965, the company decided to get involved in earnest, commissioning a clean sheet design from Keith Duckworth and the Cosworth engineering firm. The resulting engine, one which Keith always considered a Ford, would become a legend. This book provides a car-by-car and year-by-year survey of Ford's involvement in the sport. Every Ford-powered car has been included, and the results for every race and every driver can be found here as well.Hundreds of illustrations depict every major configuration and livery scheme for these cars. These illustrations were prepared after painstaking examination of contemporary photographs, and bring a splash of color.Capsule histories of every constructor from those that never entered a full season to the legendary firms like McLaren and Lotus are included, along with nuggets of history and trivia.
